Our growing client has an opportunity for an Accounts Payable Team Leader to join their finance department based in Egham. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounts Payable Team Leader will be responsible for managing the 3 Payables Finance Assistants and the smooth running of the Accounts Payable function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coaching the Accounts Payable Team of 3
  • Overseeing invoice entry and payment processing for vendor invoices
  • Reviewing, processing and paying employee expenses
  • Processing external consultant invoices
  • Reviewing and approving multi-currency payment runs
  • Leading the Accounts Payable period end process
  • Reviewing designated balance sheet accounts including pre-payments and accruals, and preparing necessary journals
  • Preparing account reconciliations
  • Preparing journal entries for reclasses, intercompany transactions or other adjustments
  • Preparing documentation for external auditors/advisors
  • Working capital management including updates to Treasury Department
  • Introducing training and development strategies
  • Carrying out employee reviews and appraisals
  • Reviewing and reporting aged creditors position
  • Providing support to the Finance Assistants during busy periods and when team members are on annual leave
  • Ad hoc duties as required

The ideal candidate would fulfil the following criteria:

  • Part-qualified/Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
  • Possess an all-round knowledge of Accounts Payable processing and general ledger accounting
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Payable supervisor or managerial role
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Previous experience in working with multiple currencies and VAT regimes
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to multitask in an evolving workplace
