Position Summary:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, direct all aspects of the European Credit function, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to, minimizing risk to the company while working in collaboration with Sales and Customer Service teams to ensure that the company achieves its Service Excellence and Financial Targets.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day leadership, management and development of the Europe Credit Control team.
- Ensure customer accounts are maintained on a day-to-day basis within contractually agreed terms and agreed sales promotions.
- Manage cash collection targets with the Credit Teams in order to optimize working capital and achieve targeted DSO metrics by region.
- Ensure best practice in commercial credit granting for new and existing accounts, to maximize sales and mitigate potential bad debt to achieve best case bad debt provision metric.
- Ensure that orders held for credit reasons are managed by the team on a daily basis and appropriate processes are in place to optimize releasing within agreed parameters.
- Responsible for the formulation, maintenance and enforcement of Company Credit Policy and Strategy, in line with all Group Internal Audit requirements.
- Work closely with Sales and Customer Services teams to ensure optimization of company’s Service Excellence strategies, especially in relation to credit terms, invoicing accuracy/timeliness, payment methods and associated customer service areas.
- Manage all current and future Oracle system and credit-related software implementations.
- Attend Customer and Field visits and represent Credit function as required at Sales Meetings.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Ability to interact and build relationships effectively at all levels, cross-functionally and across diverse cultures.
- Sound working knowledge of Oracle systems
- Strong Office computer skills including Excel and database management.
- The ability to liaise confidently and assertively with all levels within the business
- Independent and self-sufficient, with the ability to cope effectively under pressure and influence
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to handle and resolve conflict
Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Business/Finance or related field preferred.
- ICM Qualified (desirable but not essential)
- Demonstrable track record of working in a similar position with European scope
- Previous experience of leading and managing large, diverse teams
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Normal office conditions with extensive computer and phone usage
- Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
