Payroll Accounts Assistant

Location: Hybrid (office location in Watford area)

The Role:

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Payroll Accounts Assistant to join their busy Finance team on a hybrid basis. This is a varied and crucial role encompassing end-to-end payroll processing alongside responsibilities in both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess strong numerical and communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End Payroll:
    • Processing monthly and weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Managing starters and leavers, including processing relevant documentation and final payments.
    • Preparing and submitting payroll reports to relevant authorities (e.g., HMRC).
    • Dealing with payroll queries from employees in a professional and efficient manner.
    • Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Accounts Payable:
    • Processing invoices and ensuring accurate coding and authorisation.
    • Preparing payment runs and reconciling supplier statements.
    • Dealing with supplier queries and maintaining strong relationships.
    • Maintaining accurate AP records.
  • Accounts Receivable:
    • Raising sales invoices and credit notes.
    • Processing receipts and allocating payments accurately.
    • Chasing outstanding debts and maintaining accurate AR records.
    • Reconciling customer accounts.
  • General:
    • Assisting with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
    • Providing support to the wider Finance team as required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Proven experience in processing end-to-end payroll.
  • Solid understanding of payroll legislation and best practices.
  • Experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
