Mental Health Awareness Week 2021
Mental Health Awareness Week 2021
Below are some great tips that you can do to make sure you maintain positive health and well-being.
1. Take care of yourself and eat well
We all need to make sure we are taking care of our physical health as this can affect our minds. Try to keep a balanced diet and drink plenty of water as this can help your energy levels. If you have got a bad diet with a lot of junk food and alcohol, this can change your mood and make you feel down.
2. Exercise
Exercise is a big factor in helping our mood. Our mood is affected by chemicals in the body. Even gentle exercise such as a quick walk can release ‘happy hormones’ that not only help us look and feel better, they can increase concentration and help your sleep.
3. Sleep and rest
Sleep is a big part for us as our bodies heal when we sleep. When your mind is well rested and happy it is often easier to drift off and have a good nights sleep. Therefore, take some time out during the day for some exercise, or do something that helps you switch off e.g. reading or meditation.
4. Socialising
Surround yourself with positive people who are there for you when you need them most. Spending time with people you love can instantly improve your mood and make you feel better.
5. Accept help from family/friends or therapy
No matter how hard you try to live a healthy and self-compassionate life there will always be a time when you need help. Let close friends or family help you work through a problem. If you don’t want to speak to people close to you then speak to a therapist
6. Nature
Getting out and spending some time in a green space or finding ways to bring nature into your every day life can massively benefits your mental and also physical health.
Just remember, if you start to feel overwhelmed or down, do some of the above tips, and most importantly, reach out for help!
