Hybrid Working: Is it here to stay?

The COVID-19 pandemic looks to have changed the way we work for good with a full-time return to offices set to be ditched in favour of hybrid working.

What is hybrid working?

Hybrid Working combines the option of working from home with the option to work in the office. The idea of hybrid working is to offer flexible and fully remote working, so employees can split more of their time between the home and office. The new trend towards hybrid working is largely the result of the COVID-19 pandemic, where many workers found themselves going into the office one or two days a week—if at all.

What are the benefits of hybrid working?

  • Increasing productivity
  • Job satisfaction and wellbeing
  • Better collaboration and working relationships
  • Better work-life balance
  • Saved commuting time and costs

Things to consider when moving to a hybrid workplace include:

  • Investing in the right technology
  • Weighing up the costs
  • Creating shared guidelines and policies
  • Carrying out an employee survey
  • Encouraging open communication

Plenty of employees think that hybrid working is the right choice too, with 74% saying a mix of office-based and remote working is the best way forward post-COVID.

So, it looks like hybrid working may be here to stay.
